Essential Duties and Responsibilities* Participate in the design, implementation, and test of firmware/software systems.* Understand hardware and software interactions, and collaborate with Hardware Engineers.* Prepare and maintain designs and test documentation.* Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.* Participate in software code and design reviews.* Work independently, solve problems and take ownership of technical issues.* Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.* Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:* B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or significant on-the-job software development experience.* Familiarity with software development in both Windows and Linux environments.* Typically 2+ years experience in one or more of the following areas: + Real-time firmware design. + Embedded Linux systems development. + Object oriented design. + Experience with C++. + Experience with Perl, Python or other scripting languages.* Excellent communication skills, including ability both to learn from and to teach other team members.* Background check results satisfactory to SEL* Negative drug test result(s)Preferred Qualifications:* Industrial controls* Good working knowledge of computer networking.* Experience with modern communications protocols.* Experience with industrial controls.* Familiarity with software tools such as Git, CMake, Docker and Jenkins.**Competitive pay.
