Job Description

Safety Coordinator

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Regularly inspects facility operations to ensure that safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is properly utilized, and all required machine/process guards are in place and operational
  2. Investigates and facilitates the investigation of all accidents and near-miss occurrences identify trends and causes and ensures that corrective measures are implemented
  3. Works with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriate
  4. Conducts new hire training and ensures new employees understand safety practices and policies
  5. Provides training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment
  6. Chairs the Safety Committee
  7. Ensures the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and that the required level of safety and medical supplies are maintained in inventory
  8. Conducts and certifies all forklift training
  9. Coordinates annual fire inspection tours and planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies
  10. Monitors facility hearing conservation program
  11. Coordinates work duties for employees on medical restrictions
  12. Maintains appropriate communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators
  13. Maintains OSHA 300 log and other required reports
  14. Prepares regular and special reports as required
  15. Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school graduate
  • Minimum zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR and working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
