Job Overview:
Checks in patients and performs receptionist functions for the radiation oncology unit.
Qualifications:
Required:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum 2 Years Healthcare Experience
Preferred:
• 2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Basic computer skills
Scheduling Requirements:
• Day Shift
• Rotating weekends and holidays may be required
• Full-Time
Essential Functions:
• Obtains required medical information and schedules consultation and follow up appointments
• Ascertains the need for pre certifications/pre authorization and referrals for treatment and follows up appropriately
• Receives the patients and verifies insurance and referral information
• Registers the patient into the PATKOM AND ARIA applications
• Obtains all relevant information from patient and all records from referring physician and uploads documents in the EMR
• Requests and receives medical reports of prior studies and files/logs them accordingly
• Makes arrangements for patient pick up of medical records and follows departmental procedure regarding their release abiding by HIPPA laws
• Faxes reports to other physicians and /or facilities as requested
• Responsible for checking in patients into ARIA and validating parking
• Respond to all incoming calls and triage as necessary
• Performs all duties in a friendly and courteous manner offering assistance to physicians, patients, families, visitors and co-workers
• Extends courtesy and consideration to others in all interpersonal Relationships, including telephone contacts
• Demonstrates the ability to respond to instruction from peers or superiors in order to complete department tasks
• Demonstrates the ability to determine the proper time to discuss differences in work strategy
• Performs other departmental duties as prescribed by supervisory personnel
• Works overtime when needed
• Assists in the performances of non-technical tasks Within the department
