Plan, manage and implement all aspects of the recruitment and admissions process. Develop graduate education policy and provide academic advising to the faculty, students and staff. Responsible for providing in-depth, wide-ranging and complex academic advising; communicating and developing policies/procedures that ensure compliance with Graduate Studies rules, regulations and deadlines. Independent analysis, interpretation and administration of numerous and intricate regulations, policies and operations of Sociology Department. Oversee retention and various operations for enrolled graduate students. Provide proactive advisement, monitor progress from matriculation through degree conferral. Develop, analyze and interpret admission, recruitment, curriculum and advising services policy. Hire, train, and supervise Teaching Assistants and Associate Ins. Knowledge of and experience with counseling and guidance techniques to advise graduate students and to help them resolve academic, social, and emotional problems; and to make appropriate and sensitive referrals. Analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex policies, procedures and reference materials that apply to graduate students; to evaluate and interpret a wide variety of domestic and international college credentials. Analyze new and existing policies to develop procedures to meet requirements. Analytical skills with data, policy and programs including interpreting, evaluating, projecting and problem solving a variety of issues. Skills to project cost estimates, budgets and assemble statistical reports. Writing skills to compose and edit correspondence, reports, reviews and informational materials to correspond with applicants, faculty, students, student services offices and off-campus agencies and organizations. Leadership skills to advocate for and guide graduate programs toward their stated missions. Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and skill using student information system relating to student registration and course support. Knowledge and skill with online payroll/personnel system, online course scheduling and online statistical data reports. Knowledge of campus academic, student and community services and resources, and required UCD employment forms and attachments, including immigration forms. Knowledge of general objectives and policies of the unit and campus concerning various graduate programs, and non-traditional and international constituencies.
