About the Role

As a Dietitian , you’ll provide clinical nutrition counseling and individualized dietary planning under the supervision of the Director of Ambulatory Nutrition Services. You’ll help patients build healthier relationships with food while gaining valuable experience in behavioral healthcare and nutrition therapy.

Responsibilities Include::
  • Provides clinical nutrition and meal plans in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Walden Behavioral Care
  • Provide Nutrition assessments to all patients and accurately and thoroughly document nutritional assessment and patient issues using appropriate clinical terminology.
  • Perform individual and group nutrition therapy.
  • Provide meal plan/guide outlines and work with patients towards nutrition rehabilitation. 
  • Participate in treatment team planning and discharge planning.
  • Provide effective nutrition education to patients and families.
  • Communicate progress and activities related to treatment and continuing care plans on an ongoing basis to the patient, family, treatment team, referral source and other individuals involved in the patient’s care.
  • Supervise breakfast, lunch and snacks while providing meal coaching to clients, as needed.
Qualifications::

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition

Experience:

  • Experience/interest in providing direct nutritional care in an Eating Disorder Service and Mental Health setting, preferred
  • Experience with menu planning and therapeutic diets in a healthcare setting, required

  Licensure/Certification:

  • License-eligibe Dietitian with the state of MA
  • Plans to become registered with the Commission on Registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
  • CPR Certification 

Knowledge:

  • Medical nutrition therapy
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Nutrition care process
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Group education

  Required competencies:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently
  • Ability to multi-task in a changing and fast paced mental health environment
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborate, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Supervision Received:

  • Monthly RD group supervision and individual supervision with the coordinator of nutrition services and senior nutrition consultant.
