Job Description We are looking for an entry‑level Legal Assistant to become the newest member of the team. The assistant will help process large volumes of information and will be involved in data entry, opening files, liaising with insurance companies, reviewing files to locate medical treatment, sending for medical records and itemized bills, drafting correspondence, answering phones, and learning all aspects of personal injury law in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. The position is full time and may occasionally require weekend or evening work. Responsibilities Interview new clients and perform comprehensive evaluations of what has been done and what needs to be done. Initiate contact with insurance companies and open firm files, including sending correspondence. Send for medical records, itemized bills, and other documents. Follow‑up on outstanding requests. Organize incoming faxes. Update paralegals and attorneys on case status. Answer telephones. Perform administrative and other management functions related to the practice of law. Candidate will be eligible for promotion to paralegal after six months. Qualifications Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute. Ability to handle numerous tasks and prioritize completion order. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to build rapport with clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. For bilingual candidates: fluency in English and Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Pashtu, or Amharic. Compensation Base salary ranges from $38,000 to $40,000 depending on qualifications and experience, plus reachable monthly performance bonuses and participation bonuses for business brought to the firm. Bilingual Candidates Fluency in both English and Spanish qualifies for a translation bonus of $1,000 paid in two installments: after 30 days and after six months.
