The Finance and Business Economics (FBE) Department in the Marshall School of Business invites applications for a part‑time faculty (non‑tenure‑track) position for AY 2025-2026. USC defines two categories of appointment for faculty working less than full‑time. These are “adjunct” and “part‑time.” The difference in the categories is primarily based on the nature of a faculty member’s professional work outside of teaching at USC. Definition of Adjunct Faculty USC reserves the “Adjunct Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full‑time at USC, who are employed full‑time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester if approved by the dean. Definition of Part‑time Faculty USC reserves the “Part‑time Faculty” appointment for faculty teaching less than full‑time who are not employed full‑time in a primary position or career elsewhere. For example, a therapist with a part‑time private practice, a musician who performs on a part‑time basis, a biologist with a part‑time lab job, or a retired person who teaches less than full‑time at USC could be considered “Part‑time Faculty.” Part‑time Faculty under this definition may teach a maximum of three courses per semester, and we hope to limit that to two courses per semester as full‑time faculty numbers increase. We seek faculty who are dedicated to excellence in teaching and who will participate actively in the Marshall School community. Teaching responsibilities will primarily include the undergraduate course in Fundamentals of Finance, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, although other elective courses and graduate instruction opportunities will likely emerge over time. Strong applicants will have demonstrated relevant teaching excellence, a background in business with an understanding of today’s global business environment, experience with classroom technology, and a Ph.D. in a related field. To apply, please submit a letter of application and CV online. Review of applications will begin soon and will continue until a suitable candidate or candidates are identified. The per‑course salary range for this position is $7,500–$19,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations. USC is an equal‑opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law or USC policy. USC observes affirmative action obligations consistent with state and federal law. We provide reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees with disabilities. Applicants with questions about access or requiring a reasonable accommodation for any part of the application or hiring process should contact USC Human Resources by phone at (213) 821‑8000, or by email at uschr@usc.edu. Inquiries will be treated as confidential to the extent permitted by law. USC will consider for employment all qualified applicants with criminal records in a manner consistent with applicable laws and regulations, including the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for employers and the Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, and with due consideration for patient and student safety.
