Accounting Intern The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is hiring an Accounting Intern! We are seeking a highly motived team player interested in providing exceptional support to our accounting department . The duration of this internship runs through December 2026 at 15-20 hours per week, in person, during business hours. Responsibilities include: Assist with accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, coding, and documentation review and filing Maintain and track fixed assets, including recording additions, disposals, and assisting with depreciation schedules Prepare and assist with monthly account reconciliations and journal entries as part of the close process Assist with providing budget owners with reports related to budget-to-actual results, including departmental and program-level activity Support our accounting system transition from Dynamics GP to Business Central and process improvement efforts, including supporting workflow efficiencies, and data accuracy initiatives This internship will provide any individual pursuing a career in accounting, finance, or related fields an opportunity to gain a broader perspective on not-for-profit accounting within an association by assisting with day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and process improvement. Upon completion of the internship, the individual will have gained the following skills and competencies. Hands-on experience with accounting, specifically within the Accounts Payable function Learn the fundamentals of fixed asset accounting Develop a working understanding of the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and financial tools, including data entry standards, reporting functionality, and system-based controls Participate in process improvement initiatives, learning how to evaluate existing workflows and recommend efficiencies aligned with AEM’s continuous improvement mindset Exposure to how finance supports organizational priorities and leadership with budget vs. actual reports In addition to receiving firsthand experience working with members and exhibitors for a large international association, AEM provides additional training and development opportunities for interns.
